Signal MBA August Meeting

 

  The meeting was called to order by Linda Roberts-Harris of Cutting Corners

Framing.  The meeting was opened with a prayer by Margaret Keil of Signal

Mountain Flowers.  New members and visitors were recognized. Chuck Dodds

with Paw Paw Pet sitters.  Located on Sawyer Road. He was a guest of

Ron Nudo of Nudo's Hair Care Center.  Also, visiting was Bud Brown from the

Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce.  Board Members were asked to

stand and introduce themselves.  Linda Harris and Joe Harris of Cutting

Corners Framing, Margaret Keil of Signal Mountain Flowers, Cheryl Tynam

of Regions Bank, Jeff Price of J & S Shoes.  New board members Shirley

Price of J & S Shoes and Andrew Clark of Signal/Lookout Mountain Mirror

were announced and all were welcomed.  All members were asked to stand

and introduce themselves. It was reported that Gretchen Jones will be stepping

down from the office of president at the end of the year.  The group was asked

if anyone had a nomination or suggestion in mind for a new president. There

was no comment.  Jeff Price of J & S Shoes was announced as having interest

and would be willing to serve in this position. 

 

First order of business:  Sunday on Signal. Points covered

            1.  Advertising in Signal Weekly and Signal Mtn. Mirror

            2.  Joan Broome will be covering the television stations

            3. Direct mailing of cards with maps and instructions

            4.  Prizes of 12 $25 gas cards

            5. Partnering with the Chattanooga Food Bank

All the above was discussed in detail.  It was suggested that other stations

            such as 102.3, PBS, channel 61 and 88.1 television and radio should

            be considered. An instudio remote was mentioned and will be researched.

 

Second order of business:  Jeff Price of J & S Shoes presented the

            proof of the new door decal being printed for members.  A proof

            was circulated around the room for everyone's input.  Jeff and

            Shirley having been working with David Wagner on this project

            and will handle the printing. The logo is available for the members to place

            in their own advertising and other marketing material.

 

Third order of business:  David Wagner of 1824 Marketing discussed the

            status of the website and asked for more information from the members.

            It was pointed out that the ads placed with the Chattanooga Times

            Free Press by the members will be placed in the website.  This is

            at no additional cost to the members.  This will double their exposure.

            Debby Buck from the Chattanooga Times/Free Press will be handling

            the procedure with David Wagner.  It was also announced that there

            will be a place for specials and coupons by the members.

 

Fourth order of business:  The MBA will be sponsoring a "Sidewalk Sale"

            for all members on  August 29 & 30.  There will be an ad in the

            Signal Weekly on the 27th, as well as, an article.  Emails will be sent

            to all members.  If interested, they will need to respond to the email

            in order to have their name on the list.

 

Fifth order of business: Honna Rogers from Signal Mountain Town Hall gave

            a brief presentation about the program involving the TVA and the future

            growth on Signal Mountain.  She requested that anyone from the MBA

            interested should step forward for the next meeting.  She can be contacted

            at the Town Hall for more information.  She next explained the new

            garbage service that will effect the retail center of Signal Mountain. There

            will only be one pickup per week.  All garbage has to go in the cans.

            Any questions, should be directed to the town hall.  Next, Bud Brown

            from the Chamber described the growth in the Chattanooga area

            projected in the future.  He encouraged the MBA to partner with the

            Chamber for everyone's benefit.

 

Finally, the floor was opened for any questions, discussion or comments.

With a few minutes to spare, everyone stayed and met and discussed issues

with old and new members.
